ENVIORNMENTAL DESIGN │ VISUAL DEVELOPEMNET
REViVAL
Plantations in Borneo are rapidly growing, taking up space that they don’t have the rights to. To block these advances the outpost aims to block the road that supplies the plantations. Taking inspiration from vernacular architecture the concept is based on longhouses. Locals are encouraged to interact with the outpost as much as possible whether it be occupying or protesting below. The structure can be used as both an edjucation center and a protesting barrak.
Héshān Mén Xué
Present day architecture schools teach students to constantly create without any thought into how much space they occupy. The coffee shop association is a treasure trove of antiques that must be preserved and then repurposed. The project turn these antiques into integral spaces that helps aid students in their learning process through adaptive preservation. History has always been part of every movement therefore this course serves as a window and door into the past. Using history to steer the course of design students will be held to the same standard.
JUA LUEANG
The project is meant to revive Pomprab Sattru Pai due to its lack of young families while supplying them with both jobs and residence in one building. Taking inspiration from the many Wats nearby, running a buddhist center and dormitory encourage a deeper connection to people's spirituality. Shades of yellow are applied to different parts of the building to imitate the color of the robes of monks. The circulation of the building where the stairs travel throughout the structure creating a loop that replicates walking meditation and boosts consciousness. Lastly, the pitched roofs and stilts are also elements from Kutis architecture where a cluster of Kutis are rotated and merged together to emulate the shape of a mountain.
DAM ROCKS
The concept of trash typography is a base for this project to build upon. Drawing inspiration from the dam and reforming it so that it has more connection to Khao Yai’s mountainous terrain, it is rehabilitated and becomes a human and nature oriented project. Activities found inside are also crucial to reinforce this idea of contradiction in the project. Where the brief calls for a data center that is detached from any culture and life, a sports center seems to be the complete opposite. The average rocks from nature are taken and made into a data center and for a rock climbing center. The facade also reflects this nature and human aspect where the facade and balconies serve to resemble rocks with different patterns, some even jutting out from the rest, and some made from man made porcelain. The aspect of human and nature collaboration is the ultimate goal of this data center.
